Teggie Comments by Huw Garan
I've just read your article about Teggie (Welsh equivalent of Loch Ness
Monster). In the article you state s/he/it inhabits two lakes
in North Wales, Llyn Tegid or Bala Lake.
You may like to know that 'Bala Lake' is merely the English name for the
lake more correctly called Llyn Tegid, thus s/he/it inbhabits a
lake in North Wales. (According to legend the waters of the lake
drowned the town of Y Bala many years ago and will again rise beyond the
lake shores and drown modern-day Bala.)
Llyn Tegid's other, less famous, resident. The Gwyniad is a species
of fish found only in Llyn Tegid, and is, quite understandably, a source
of great pride to Bala residents.
