Werwolf
This phrase dervices from the Anglo Saxon word for man ('wer') and wolf ('wulf') and describes a man or a woman who become a wolf, either temporarily or permanently. Belief in this occurrence was rife throughout ancient and medieval times and belief in them was strong in Europe - probably due to the high population of wolves.
