Napoleon's Book of Fate
Napoleon's Book of Fate : In
1813 Napoleon was defeated at Leipzip. However he left behind him a
"Cabinet of Curiosities" among which a Prussian officer
discovered the following Oraculum. Originally this Oraculum had been
discovered in one of the Royal tombs of Egypt during a French military
expedition of 1801. The emperor ordered the manuscript to be
translated by a famous German scholar and antiquarian. From that
time onwards the Oraculum remained one of Napoleon's most treasures
possessions. He consulted it on many occasions and it is said to
have "formed a stimulus to his most speculative and most successful
enterprises."
The tables provided here are are an exact translation of Napoleons copy.
How to consult the Oraculum
1). Make a series of marks like this * in four lines, try to do
it without thinking about it, simply let the pen be the guide. Add
as many *** 's as desired, for example when finished the end result should
look something like:
************ ************* ************** *************** |
2). Now add up the number of marks made, for example:
************ ************* ************** *************** |
(12
marks) (13 marks) (14 marks) (15 marks) |
3). When the number of marks in any of the four lines exceeds 9 then only the surplus marks are taken into account, therefore:
************ ************* ************** *************** |
(12
marks becomes 3) (13 marks becomes 4) (14 marks becomes 5) (15 marks becomes 6) |
4). A symbol must now be obtained from the marks in order to do this a line containing an odd number is marked with a single star * and a line containing an even number is marked with two stars ** using the example above the symbol obtained from those marks is as follows:
************ ************* ************** *************** |
(12
marks = 3) (13 marks = 4) (14 marks = 5) (15 marks = 6) |
odd
number even number odd number even number |
* ** * ** |
5). It is now possible to consult the Oraculum in order to do this a question must be decided upon. Once the question has been chosen from the table, match the corresponding symbol which was already obtained.

6).
Once the desired question has been chosen and the corresponding mark found;
read the table across to click on a letter. For example if the
question was question number 1 - Shall I obtain my wish? Move along the
row to locate the symbol found earlier. In this example the
corresponding letter is P for question 1. Now click on that letter
and the corresponding page has all of the symbols placed horizontally. Now
match up the original vertical symbol with the horizontal symbol on page
P. This will give the answer to the question. The answer
should read, "What you wish should be granted to you".
7). The following are days on which none of the questions should be
worked:-
January | 1 | 2 | 4 | 6 | 11 | 12 | 20 |
February | 1 | 17 | 18 | ||||
March | 14 | 16 | |||||
