Ka
Ka is an Egyptian idea of one of man's seven parts. It represents a spiritual double and they believed that animals and inanimate objects has a Ka as well as humans. Each man received a Ka at birth and it would leave at death, hovering nearby to bring him back to life on occasion. Statues were often placed close to the mummified to give their Ka a place to shelter, and it would be fed by the deceased's loved ones who would leave food at the tomb.
