Talisman

A talisman is an inanimate object which is believed to hold supernatural powers for protecting against evil. Most talismans are metal or stone, and they tend to be engraved with magical figures. Talismans were most frequently found in ancient Egypt. Astrological talismans include the figure of Mercury engraved on silver for success in Merchandise, Mars which gave soldiers victory and Venus which bestowed beauty.
