This character is found in German mythological romance. He trained his father - Weltich - in warfare and sent him to the Court of Dietrich in Bern. He gave him the sword Miming and told him to apply to a mermaid (his ancestress) in times of need. He is also referenced in the Sigfried story, and was with a smith names Mimi when Sigfried joined the smithy. The Beowulf Saga praised his workmanship, and he was described as a creator of impregnable armour. To the Teutonic people he is a supernatural smith, comparable to the Romans' Vulcan.
